The term “Eco” is generally used to describe an event or experience which has minimal impact on the environment and wildlife - “tourism directed towards exotic natural environments, intended to support conservation efforts and observe wildlife.”

Our Eco tours are planned to conform to the guidelines as set out by the Australian Eco Tourism organisation with whom we are now certified to Ecotourism level. This means that we have demonstrated that we are one of their exemplary operators in terms of ecological sustainability, natural area management and provision of authentic cultural experiences.

In the Whitsundays, with almost all islands and much of the undeveloped mainland being National or Marine Parks, we are focused on imparting knowledge to our guests about the diverse flora and fauna of the region as well as explain the steps we take to ensure that our impact is minimal when visiting. We are proud to be a partner in the Queensland Governments “Be Pest-Free” program which will help to make sure no unwanted pests reach our world heritage and national park islands.

In 2021, we joined a pilot scheme with the Whitsunday Regional Council to help reduce our emissions, contributing to a more sustainable Whitsundays. The “Healthy Heart Reef Partner” program will help us to ultimately reduce our carbon footprint

The other component of the Ecotourism programme is to show respect to the cultural heritage of our region by informing and educating our visitors of the history and traditions of the aboriginal peoples who lived here. We are proud to have an ROC (Respecting Our Culture) certification and are the first in the Whitsundays to provide a unique Indigenous Cultural tour.
